České Radiokomunikace a.s. has been providing standard electronic communications services on the Czech market since 1995. The Company’s strong points include its own 1 500 buildings suitable for the realization of wireless access, its own nationwide infrastructure, stable technical and human-resource background and a strong and stable economic foundation of the Company. Currently, České Radiokomunikace a.s. provides its customers with a complete range of products and services in the field of data transmission, Internet connection and newly also voice services.
A solid infrastructure of the telecommunications network is one of the greatest competitive advantages of České Radiokomunikace a.s. The architecture of this infrastructure consists of three logical levels: SDH transport network, ATM and PDH backbone networks and a multi-purpose access network. The transport network is based on an optical network with the total length of optical fibers over 2 500 km, covering the whole territory of the Czech Republic and equipped with the state-of-the-art technologies DWDM and SDH. The ATM backbone network provides for efficient routing of digital information through virtual paths and virtual channels with the required QoS (Quality of Service) qualitative parameters. Both of these networks, the transport SDH network and the ATM backbone network, have been designed to provide a sufficient transmission capacity even for future development. Individual elements of both networks are duplicated to assure high reliability of the network. The multi-purpose access network is designed for connecting customers to the individual network services. The access network consists of 250 access nodes, distributed all over the territory of the Czech Republic. The access nodes are connected to the backbone network by means of E3 (34Mbps) or n × 2Mbps capacities. These are Frame Relay nodes, access routers for IP services, ATM access multiplexors and digital cross-connectors with voice concentrators used for voice service realization.
Voice services are further provided by an up-to-date switching system Siemens EWSD, completed with a central distribution node of voice concentrators and VoIP GateWay. The public voice network is interconnected with the Telefonica O2 network in all connecting points, it is directly interconnected with the networks of all mobile operators and also with the most significant alternative operators.
Internet service realization is based on the technological background of the data network; actually all available technologies and protocols (ATM, HDLC, Frame Relay, PPP) are used during the service realization and the communication proper between a customer and the Internet network runs on the IP protocol. The Internet service central node is interconnected with three various providers of international connectivity and with the national peering node NIX.
